musings of Christmas past

Upon the eve of Christmas, I think of past Christmas eves spent with family anxiously awaiting presents, reactions to the gifts, and just the general feeling of warmth and cheer. Cameras attempting to capture every second of baby's first Christmas, George snoozing between gift openings, and Bandit shredding the gift wrap. The wood stove is cranked up so everyone is perspiring profusely and ultimately Violet exclaiming, "Is anyone else hot in here?" There is the smell of fried appetizers wafting from the kitchen and occasionally I will have to sample some. There are also cookies, pies, dips, and other good things to eat. Then, all to soon, the presents are open and they are packed away. But, the feeling of good cheer lingers for awhile before getting filed away to be remembered again.

Hat quotes to live by:

Live your life, do your work, then take your hat”
Henry David Thoreau quotes

Hats divide generally into three classes: offensive hats, defensive hats, and shrapnel. Katharine Whitehorn

The hat is the pride of man; for he who cannot keep his hat on before kings and emperors is no free man. - Friedrich Von Schiller

The hat is not for the street: it will never be democratized. But there are certain houses that one cannot enter without a hat. And one must always wear a hat when lunching with people whom one does not know well. One appears to one’s best advantage. - Coco Chanel

So many hats and only one head!

Leave everyone wondering which is the more interesting piece of work...you or your hat.
